Javacia Harris Bowser + See Jane Write | Brand Photoshoot

Javacia Harris Bowser is many things - an award-winning writer and journalist, an author, an educator, an editor, a community builder, a feminist, a friend, a cancer survivor, and an absolute force. These hats lead to many outlets. Not only can her personal writing be found in publications like Good Housekeeping, StyleBlueprint, Good Grit, and many more and in her published essay collection Find Your Way Back: How to Write Your Way Through Anything, Javacia also founded and runs See Jane Write, a community platform where women can hone their writing skills and learn how to monetize those passions. This brand and portrait photography session had a dual purpose.

For one, Javacia wanted these studio portraits to create fresh content and imagery for her website. Two, she needed updated photo content for See Jane Write. Once she arrived at the studio, we threw on Beyonce’s Renaissance, which had just been released and was on repeat for Javacia, and got to work. We wanted the photos to speak to Javacia’s truth and personality - fun-loving and earnest, joyful and thoughtful, a determined expert, an accomplished writer - and we needed imagery that could be used both on websites, social media, and in press kits. I love the imagery we created together.
